Evening Walk in Chinese Garden

I had a evening walk in Chinese Garden after a day of studying.

I woke up early on a Sunday morning to take the sunrise over  MacRitchie Reservoir

Silence of the night

The sun gradually rise

Recently, my school brought us to Marina Barrage.

Many bird for preys have been spotted in Singapore's business area.

This Barn Owl have become a residence in Marina Barrage

 

A reason why I love Singapore is because though it is so urbanized, there are many pockets of nature

Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.5

Recently, I have invested a big sum of money into a ultra-wide angle lens, the Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.5

This is "piece of glass" cost me S$1100

Very beautiful lens

It has a bulbous front element

What review said that made me buy this lens:
-Ultra-wide focal length! (The 2mm really makes a difference)
-Low Chromatic Aberration (Better than Canon's 10-22mm)
-Sharp (As sharp as Canon's 10-22mm)
-HSM = Quick auto-focusing (Doesn't make a difference in landscape photography)
-Comes with a casing and hood (All Sigma lens comes with that)
-Cheaper by S$200

Why I shouldn't have bought this lens:
-Not able to accept filters (No ND/ Graduated ND)
-Bulbous front element (Hard to care)
-Slow aperture (2/3 stops slower than Canon's 10-22mm)

Nice Catch

After much studying for our test, me and my friends decided to go for a walk in the park.

As we were relaxing at the quarry, an angler reeled in a nice catch!

A Giant Snakehead

I was about 1m long

The uncle who illegally reeled the fish in

This lucky fellow caught 2 Snakehead in a day!

My Chinese New Year

This year, I spent my Chinese New Year in Cameron Highlands.

Not much traditional Chinese Dinner & Red Packet but a lot of photography!

On my way to my Grandmother's home, It was 3 in the morning at it was pitch black

I left my shutter for 30 seconds to get this shot

Around 5 am, it started to get brighter

And finally, the sunrise at 6:30 am

Went for a walk in the park that afternoon

This amazing photo was taken at my grandparents backyard

Amazing luck I had on this photo!

The next day, we headed to Cameron Highlands

It was the Chinese New Year and lion dance troupe would earn extra bucks at this time of the year

Tea is a common crop grown in Cameron Highlands due to the favorable conditions

The cold climate and wet weather allows the tea plant to thrive

The next day, we visited an agriculture park

It is a nursery and a farm

After the agriculture park, we went for a hike in the highlands

The forest is not so dense in Cameron but much more forest floor plants

Trees are also different from the ones in Singapore

The bark is smoother and the trees have less leaves

After the waterfalls, I took a trail to see the cloud forest of Cameron Highland

As we got higher, the vegetation got lesser

The trees were shorter and twisted at the cloud forest

Trunks were covered in ferns

It is definitely a secret attraction of Cameron Highland

Moss grew on every trunk I saw

Bird-nest ferns also flourished here because of the shorter trees

Even the trunks are covered in moss

Small streams also flows through the forest

Cameron has the largest number of jeeps outside a military base

Many jeeps were very old and rusting

After the hike, we went for another walk in the night market

Honeycombs were sold to be eaten as snacks

Old Mercedes taxi, would never find it anywhere else

The next day, we headed down to my great grandmother's house in Ipoh

But I decided to take a detour to visit the Petronas Tower
